Actress Jan Francis is probably best known for playing Penny Warrender in the John Sullivan sitcom Just Good Friends, and has had a wealth of other stage, screen and TV parts.

What was your first car?
A new, white Triumph Herald 1200 convertible. At the time I was a dancer in the Royal Ballet and saved in my Post Office savings book for two years to get it. The Herald was brand new. They opened the showroom doors and I drove it onto the street and straight round Hyde Park Corner. There weren’t any traffic lights then so it was like a Grand Prix circuit!
